Ring Abstract
Could someone give me an example of noncommutative rings with commutative subrings in abstract algebra?
Please .. Why die if used badly.
A) Consider the ring G of square matrices of order n (with real or complex coefficients). And 'noncommutative for n> 1. Let D be the subring of G consisting of diagonal matrices. Then D is a commutative subring of G. B) Another family of examples is given by the direct product of a commutative ring with G1 G2 commutative ring. G1xG2 consists of pairs (G1, G2) with the addition and product defined by (G1, G2) + (H1, H2) = (g1 + H1, H2 + G2) (G1, G2). (H1, H2) = (g1.h1, g2.h2) Then all elements of the form (g, 0) is a commutative subring of G1xG2 (this is isomorphic sub-G1).
