An overall look at Alchemy Part 1

Alchemy's Origin

Alchemy, according to esoteric writers, is said to be the invention of an ancient Egyptian sage called Hermes Trismegistus. The "Father of Alchemy" lived in an era of Egyptian history known, although it is considered by some Rosicrucian schools to have lived during the time of Moses and the Exodus of the Israelites. If it is true, being an Initiate of the mysteries of Isis and Osiris, Moses must be was instructed by Hermes himself, who later allowed him to carry out its mission and to realize his I AM Presence symbolized by the burning bush. The various precepts and the Ten Commandments of the Lord of hosts revealed to the Israelites by Moses are the first alchemical steps of purification and putrefaction. Further steps were later added to the Mosaic revelation by the Nazarene Master. In fact, Christ said he came not to abolish the previous revelation, but to fulfill.

It is believed by some that "Hermes Trismegistus" constituted a title assumed by distinguished hierophants Mystery Schools, in a manner somewhat similar Zoroaster, the founder of Fire Religion is regarded by some scholars. Incidentally, alchemy can be considered a religion of Fire, or at least a philosophy, because of its symbolism Fire Related alchemical principles, its prerequisite in the art of transmutation, and to respect and honor given to it by alchemists.

mystics Jews identified Hermes as the antediluvian prophet Enoch, or Idris as he is known among Muslims, while the ancient Egyptians see Hermes as Thoth, the god of wisdom, learning, and writing. It 'was given this apotheosis with Imhotep, the great architect under the reign of King Zoser of the Fourth Dynasty. It seems that both men were overshadowed by the archetypal figure of Thoth, and were recognized as such by both the interior and exterior of initiates of the Mystery Schools. Thoth, or his greek counterpart, Mercury was a messenger of the gods and as an archetypal incarnation of this god, Hermes lived up to its name with her literary fecundity. Ancient writers said that "Trice Greatest" wrote thousands of books on what later became known as Hermeticism and alchemy. It 's a pity that very little of the works of Hermes' survived the fire and destruction of libraries and books by Roman and Christian zeal in the dawn of the Age of Pisces. The whole world is still unaware of the great loss and we will take time that the call is made by the masses for the greater light, for the dissemination of eternal principles that illuminate the ways of men, and consequently, for a full restoration and establishment a library of the occult world, with an archive and database of every known system and tradition of the metaphysical side of life. Although little is known of Hermes, it is evident through the works attributed to him that he was an agent of the radius of the Supreme Wisdom.

One of the most famous works written on the doctrine tight and concise, is smaragdina Tablet attributed the authorship of Hermes. Its discovery has been made to the tradition of Alexander of Macedonia, in a cave near Hebron. This conqueror nations that were for Aristotle a Master, was in search of immortality. Although not able to achieve personal immortality, Alexander did discover a philosophical jewel that would give him what he had asked if he had only applied the principles that the Emerald Tablet contained. Tradition says that the Tablet was wrought Emerald artificial, a result of transmutation, with the Hermetic doctrine raised upon it.

Alchemy, as a philosophy and an art hemisphere West over the past two millennia, there were simultaneously in other ancient cultures and civilizations – was practiced intensely by Hindu Yogis and Taoists, in India and China. This parallel growth is probably the result of regular reporting to the Great White Brotherhood, a spiritual method designed for the development of certain types of temperaments and belief-framework those aspiring to belong to a certain era and stage of collective evolution of humanity.

Based on this parallel growth of alchemy in the East and in regions of the Fertile Crescent suggested to some historians esoteric alchemy may have had a common origin in that sunken continent Atlantis or Atlantis, as is more generally known. Esoteric Tradition declares that a handful of Atlantean Root Race survived the submergence of land and transmigrated to Egypt, China and the Americas. You reasonable to assume that they brought with them their sciences, art and culture, which influenced the indigenous inhabitants of the regions where they settled. This would explain the similarities traditions and beliefs of native cultures is both East and West.

Principles of Alchemy are the principles that Nature herself works with, and therefore, alchemy, scientifically, existed in the inner planes long before it was brought down on the ground floor by the master teachers. A study of the mysteries of nature would reveal students demanding that the higher Intelligences, the Elohim, the Great Architect of the Universe and alchemical principles used to precipitate the starry bodies out of chaos, the Substance Cosmic Root or "Sunyata," as defined by Buddhism. Kabbalists believe that Adam was taught by the angels in heaven the art of transmutation, to prepare for his "Fall" and his climb back toward his Monad, toward the divine – his involution and evolution of a divine consciousness of Divine Self-Consciousness.

There is general coincidence among scholars about the origin of the word "alchemy". The consensus is that the word is derived from the word "Khem" the ancient name for Egypt, added the Arabic article "al", meaning "the", thus forming the word "al-Khemy. However, Sir Wallis Budge is of the opinion that alchemy comes from the Egyptian word "khemein" which means "black powder" or "mineral" purports to be an ingredient in alchemy. No matter where it secured its name, the word "alchemy", it seems, first came to prominence in Mystery schools in Alexandria.

Purpose of Alchemy

What is alchemy, and what role it plays in promoting the welfare of mankind? If alchemy has a true value, must be based on eternal values, things that support the goals of the sky, in other words, God designed the human race is becoming the true image Elohimic the divine. If alchemy simply had an earthly goal, developers Ages have not tackled with it. It would have been regarded as something so trivial, in so transitory as to distract the man from the real work to free himself, in particular, from slavery to carnal self, the kama Manas, or animal soul, and, in general, from samsara. Greed was never the impulse that drove the invention of alchemy. It 'was, is and will always man's desire for truth and enlightenment of his true nature and ownership that motivates him to search through every channel and avenue for certain that something unconsciously feel that he had "lost" and that has to re-acquire – call "the Lost Word," "Philosopher's Stone", or "Holy Grail" does not matter. Alchemy teaches man the principle of regeneration and resurrection, the laws of creation and transmutation; laws that would help the man recover his former estate lost in "The Fall". This "Fall" from Paradise symbolically represents involution of Life aired physical matter. The way back the throne of God is scientifically called "evolution", and the acceleration of the latter is the art of hermetic gnosis. This return path is esoterically and graphically symbolized by Jacob's Ladder, and the paths of "Qaballistic Tree of Life."

The drama of Jesus' life 'Is an alchemical allegory of the stages of regeneration and ascension to the I AM Presence within, the "Father who art in heaven." Orthodox Christianity does not recognize or is aware of this fundamental truth, and the lack of mystical insight among most members of its priesthood coupled with the lack of truth in esoteric doctrines and dogmas of the Church, the average Christian is ignorant and unaware of the true message of Christianity – the light, the substance of Christ, the true saving blood that Christ introduced to mankind. Christianity is essentially an esoteric alchemical science and religion, its promulgator was a master alchemist – being taught in rooms Mystery school initiations. It is told in the Gospels as the Master transmuted water into wine, multiplied loaves and fishes, and walked on water – which were all manifestations the principles of alchemy, the Hermetic philosophy – or perhaps all of these events were allegories convey some spiritual teaching.

Alchemy is defined as the art of transmutation and precipitation – the changing of base metals into gold. The work of alchemical transmutation is designated as "the work of the Sun." This "Eye of Ra" symbolically represents the perfection with which Nature is gradually unfolding in her creations. On the physical level the Sun of Perfection is represented gold. Alchemy is the science and art which hasten the creations of Nature to attain perfection at their respective levels. Gold is achieved the perfection of metals and minerals. Minerals, however, are also following another line of perfection – that his ability to sustain life and consciousness. And man, the apex of organic life, is changing for the state in which it acquires perfection in Divine Self-raising.

From the foregoing it can be summarized that alchemy is the art of raising the vibration of an object to accelerate its development or evolution into a higher expression or State. The result is the perfection of the good of transmutation.

Alchemy's Transmission to Christendom

Alexandria was the philosophical capital of Egypt, and perhaps throughout the civilized world in the early centuries of Christianity. Gnosticism, Neoplatonism, Alchemy and Hermeticism flowers in abundance, these philosophies are intrinsically linked, and to understand Royal Art fully, the student of alchemy is advised by Master teachers to be familiar with their doctrines. Alexandria Golden Age of occult philosophy did not last long, the reptile mind of the fallen angels had seized control of the new religion of early Christianity (No offense to our Christian brothers and sisters). The sons and philosophical daughters of Hermes were persecuted and murdered brutally by Christian fundamentalists and fanatics. Fear and hatred were aroused among the masses and the ousting the so-called pagan religions from the earth below. A sad event was the cruel assassination of Hypathia, an illustrious daughter of the Mysteries – the Widow Isis, and propounder of Neoplatonism. He just had a philosophical equal in his day, and this caused the envy and jealousy of a priest who invented some its murder.

During the decline of the Roman Empire, the Secret Doctrine, or the ancient wisdom have been passed to protect Arab and Persian mystics. The principles of occult wisdom were then incorporated in the Islamic faith, with its more traditional oral secretly promulgated so in certain sects, Orders, and mystical groups such as the Sufi and Dervish Orders, and between communities of Druze in Lebanon and Syria.

In 8 to 11 century AD, the era of the golden period of alchemic-Islamic culture, you hear of illustrious names in Art Real, as al-Farabi, Rhazes, Geber and Avicenna. These men studied the mystery teachings and occult wisdom of the Egyptian and Greek school. They were influenced in particular by hermetic, alchemical and Neoplatonic ideas, and the knowledge that they acquired was synthesized with Islamic and Sufi teachings. Sufi adepts produced one of the most beautiful symbols spiritual unfolding and progression: the rose. Its symbolism is similar to that adopted by the Hindu mystic lotus.

The Knights of the Temple was an important link between East and West, between Islamic culture and the world of Christianity. The alchemical doctrine was passed by the Sufi adepts to these "Knights of the Holy Sepulchre" as the Knights Templar were originally called. Even the mythical Christian Rosencruez of Rosicrucianism is said to have acquired the occult knowledge from the Sufi Masters and adepts in Arabia.

After days of dissolution of the Order of the Temple by Philip the Fair of France, and the death sentence of their last Grand Master Jacques de Molay in 1314, the Knights took refuge in various countries, and in England some of them founded an order alchemy which later became known as the Elder Brothers of the Rosy Cross. " It is said that this Order includes 33 members and that this group exists to this very day in our age of computers.

When the believers of Allah invaded and settled in Iberia led with him the secret teachings. Colleges were established that had mysticism, metaphysics, and alchemy in the curriculum. With the establishment of various schools, the old finally defined wisdom is rooted in European soil, and gradually spread throughout the other regions of the continent. This expansion was undoubtedly the result efforts put off by the spiritual hierarchy of this planet. the evolution of man is divided into several steps, stages and cycles, and these have "time" or programs associated with them. It 'was appropriate that the flames of truth and freedom be given to the guardian of the Islamic world, if it is not extinguished by some of the wicked minds Christianity of the Middle Ages that would cause a setback for the Divine Plan already established.

The deviation from the proper use of free will by fundamentalists Christians made them unsuitable vessels for wine Christic. Despite an attack of blind exoteric Christianity in th light that gave birth, the esoteric circle continued its existence clandestinely, preserving the secret teachings of Jesus and circulated to a select few who had the vision of God's plan in their hearts and minds.

Idries Shah the eminent Sufi of contemporary, mentions in his book The Sufis, "as an Englishman, one Robert of Chester, was instrumentally in 1144 AD, the introduction alchemy to the Christian world by translating an alchemical manuscript originally written in Arabic. There were many others like him, for bearers of the Flame were not few.

Levels of Alchemy

Most of the principles of alchemy conveyed to the audience was made up of images, mandalas, and jargon. These obscure languages were necessary considering the era that alchemical science was struggling – struggling for recognition by the masses as a system of spiritual development in the midst of ecclesiastical persecution. The mentality masses of the Middle Ages were not much different from the time of Jesus' ignorance, superstition and fear still ruled the day. The letter of the law, as propagandized by Orthodox Christianity were still inconsistent and in conflict with the spirit of the law, as advanced by enlightened mystics. The Inquisition, which lasted for centuries, has shown As the Church had moved away from the original precepts of Christianity. Christ taught love, forgiveness, charity and kindness, the Church Fathers and Christian leaders I knew personal ambition, with sadism, selfishness and set-up on a pedestal diabolical. The personal "I" was worshiped, the "Yekhidah" or The Divine AM has been forgotten.

Neophytes of the Mysteries were given the keys of interpretation of Sacred literature when they were accepted in the various secret brotherhoods. Candidates alchemical initiation were noticed by the Masters when they demonstrated their sincerity and efforts and sacrifices they had made. For the world in general, the existence of Masters was unknown and unsuspected, although their presence in the world of men was hinted at in various alchemical manuscripts. It was only in the last century that Helena P. Blavatsky, among others, that led to their existence to the attention of the world, and even then, the world scoffed and derided the idea. This is a bit 'unreasonable, as people development various spiritual and mental development can be easily seen and recognized. If some men and women are more perfect than others, because there are men and women of all perfect from our human point of view?

Esoterically, when a Master alchemist gave a student of alchemy the "Philosopher's Stone", what was actually were sent to the teachings of ancient wisdom, and a yogic sure that if applied and practiced, would transmute an initiate into a god.

To the public eye, alchemical icons and terminology send any sense, but mystiqueness of alchemical texts and images have aroused considerable interest in potential practitioners Royal Art, and has revealed the average person in a seeker. This was perhaps one of the intentions of the authors of alchemical manuscripts. Modern chemistry, feeling a bit 'confused ideas alchemical regards with contempt his father as a pseudo-science in the same way that astrology is generally frowned upon by students of astronomy. Modern research will time to change opinions and beliefs prejudicial to materialistic science-inclined, and already the pioneers of quantum physics suggest that the Ancient Wisdom has taught for centuries.

A key to understanding alchemy is to determine the objectives and the theme of transmuting. Without keeping this principle in mind, one would lost in the desert alchemy. Alchemy is classified into four levels:

1) Physical alchemy

2) organic chemistry

3) Psychological alchemy

4) Transcendental alchemy
